About the Project

COOKPY

The Japanese market follows a unique path, especially regarding social media applications. While WhatsApp dominates globally, Japan relies on LINE as their standard communication platform. Yuta Arai recognized this opportunity and envisioned creating a business integration with LINE for the restaurant industry, inspired by WhatsApp's Business catalogs feature. Cookpy emerged as an innovative LINE integration that brings restaurant delivery and marketing directly into Japan's top social platform. Unlike traditional standalone apps, Cookpy serves as an 'application within an application,' providing seamless food ordering experiences for LINE users. The platform focuses heavily on automated customer acquisition and membership management, features that were central to the project's success. Code Huddle worked closely with Yuta to understand the unique needs of the Japanese market, creating an interface that resonates with local users while providing restaurants with powerful marketing and customer retention tools. The integration includes real-time delivery updates, live chat with riders, interactive coupon animations, and dynamic offer displays, making it a comprehensive solution for Japan's competitive food delivery market.

Unpacking the architecture, innovations, and real-world results

01

Technical Architecture

Cookpy is built as a sophisticated LINE Bot integration using Next.js and NestJS microservices architecture. The system leverages LINE's messaging API to create an 'application within an application' experience, allowing users to interact with restaurants directly through LINE chats. PostgreSQL manages complex restaurant data, menu items, and order workflows, while Redis provides real-time caching for instant responses and inventory updates. The architecture emphasizes seamless integration with LINE's ecosystem, utilizing webhooks for message handling and providing automated customer acquisition through LINE's social features. The platform is designed to handle Japan's unique market requirements with culturally-appropriate interfaces and payment integrations.
