Founded in 2022 by lifelong animal enthusiasts Nikolaus and Sufyan, HonestDog addresses the challenges posed by unethical breeding practices and the lack of transparency in pet adoption. The platform connects prospective dog owners with over 2,000 certified breeders and reputable shelters, providing comprehensive support throughout the adoption process with detailed breeder information, health checks, and genetic test results.

A Next.js platform with server-side rendering provides optimal performance for breeder and dog listing pages. Node.js/Express APIs handle breeder verification workflows, application processing, and user management with token-based authentication. AWS infrastructure ensures reliable hosting, secure file storage for health certificates and photos, and scalable performance during peak adoption periods.
